At Playa Azul, you’ll always see iguanas of all shapes and sizes, butterflies, and soaring birds… along the beach, if it’s the season, you can see giant sea turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs! Travel a little further and see spider monkeys, pelicans, dolphins, and much more.
Sian-Ka’an is a huge biosphere, a protected reserve that stretches far along the coast and inland. You can spend the whole day in Sian Ka’an and it will seem like an hour, just because there’s so much to see! There are migratory birds that come to roost on islands in the middle of the lagoons; you can always see dolphins and turtles swimming around; snorkel more of the reef there too! You can have lunch in Punta Allen, a tiny fishing village at the very south end of the Mayan coast, and have the freshest lobster, fish and crab you may have ever tasted.
